Legal and Community Involvement

Mr. Altstadt has served the legal community for over thirty years.  He was once spoken of as the " most recognizable individual in the Orange County legal community who isn't an attorney."  That experience includes the following:

Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County

Mr. Altstadt served on the Board of the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County for over six years and served as President in 1998.  During his tenure the Foundation's programs grew tremendously in both stature and absolute involvement.

Mr. Altstadt has recently rejoined the Board and also holds the position of President Emeritus.

Orange County Bar Association Charitable Fund

Mr. Altstadt acted as Committee Chair for the Orange County Bar Association's annual charity event for five years in the 1990's.  During that time he was the only chair of a Bar committee who was not a member of the Bar.  He took control of an event that had 150 attendees and raised very little money.

Within two years he had built the event to include over 1,500 attendees and raised thousands of dollars for the Public Law Center, the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the Orange County Bar Foundation.  Called "Crystal Casino" the event grew to be the annual "must attend" party for the Bar.

Mr. Altstadt currently serves on the Committees which organize the annual Kenneth Lae Golf Tournament and the "Raise Your Glass" event.

Project Youth OCBF

Mr. Altstadt is a sustaining member of the Society of Fellows which helps to support the organizations various programs.  Mr. Altstadt also serves as a member of the organization's Comprehensive Campaign Committee.

Public Law Center of Orange County

Mr. Altstadt served on the Board of the Public Law Center of Orange County for over eight years in the 1990's.  During that time he also served as the Treasurer of the organization.  He was appointed to the Board at a time when the Center was literally "out of business."

Mr. Altstadt currently serves on the Audit and Dinner committees of the Center.
